“ICAR AIEEA” remains a useful legacy label in career guidance, but applicants to undergraduate agriculture and allied-sciences programmes should use the current official name: CUET (ICAR-UG). For the 2026-27 session, ICAR states that admission to its All India Quota (AIQ) seats in 13 UG programmes is through CUET (UG)-2026. NTA has conducted ICAR’s competitive examinations since 2019, while ICAR sets the agriculture-specific admission framework and conducts counselling.

The route is designed for bachelor’s admission in agriculture and allied sciences in the ICAR-AU system. In 2026-27 it applies to 20% of university seats, with specified institutions having 100% ICAR-quota coverage. It does not cover Veterinary Sciences; students targeting B.V.Sc. & A.H. should confirm the distinct admission route applicable to their intended institution rather than treating CUET (ICAR-UG) as a veterinary entrance examination.

• The 13 listed programmes are four-year degrees and include B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture, Horticulture, Forestry and Community Science; B.F.Sc.; and B.Tech programmes in Agricultural Engineering, Dairy Technology, Food Technology and Biotechnology.
• The bulletin also lists Food Nutrition and Dietetics, Sericulture, Natural Farming and Agribusiness Management; programme and university availability must be checked in the counselling material for the relevant year.

For CUET (ICAR-UG)-2026, an Indian-national applicant must have passed a recognized 10+2/equivalent examination after 12 years of study. The baseline subject rule is at least three core subjects selected from Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology and Agriculture/Inter-Agriculture. A diploma or vocational course taken after matriculation is not accepted as the qualifying route under this bulletin.

Subject selection is consequential: candidates must take at least three relevant CUET subjects and may not use subjects different from those passed in Class 12. ICAR says that a mismatch can lead to disqualification from counselling or admission. The bulletin also gives baseline aggregate-mark and minimum-age requirements, but the admitting university can set additional conditions, including a specific Class 12 combination, an upper age limit, or other programme rules.

• 2026 baseline qualifying marks: 50% aggregate for General, OBC-NCL, UPS and EWS; 40% for SC, ST, Third Gender and PwBD. No rounding up is permitted.
• 2026 minimum age: 16 years as of August 31, 2026; no relaxation is provided for the minimum age.
• Check the university-wise conditions in the year’s counselling brochure before applying. For example, engineering or dairy technology programmes may require a more specific subject combination than the general ICAR baseline.

The current ICAR-UG bulletin does not prescribe a standalone AIEEA-UG paper pattern. It states that the CUET (ICAR-UG)-2026 test, its schedule and its syllabus are defined and notified by NTA through the CUET portal. Therefore, candidates should treat the current NTA CUET (UG) information bulletin—not old AIEEA-UG question-count or marking-scheme pages—as the controlling source for the test format of their cycle.

ICAR uses the CUET route to generate merit ranks for agriculture-and-allied-sciences admissions. Qualifying or taking the test alone does not guarantee a seat: allocation depends on merit rank, programme/university subject eligibility, available seats and fulfilment of all admission requirements through ICAR counselling.

• The 2026 bulletin says NTA determines the examination date, duration, timing, city, centre and shift through its schedule and the candidate’s admit card.
• ICAR noted that the 2025-26 seat figures in its bulletin were guidance only; the actual 2026-27 seats and special conditions were to be published in the Online Counselling Brochure. Seat counts therefore vary by admission year and university.

Apply online through the NTA CUET portal during the applicable registration window, selecting only the subjects that correspond to the applicant’s Class 12 subjects and intended ICAR-UG options. The 2026 ICAR notice announced a January 3–30, 2026 registration period; that window has passed, so a future applicant should wait for and follow the next official NTA/ICAR notice rather than rely on that date.

After completing the form and paying the required NTA fee, retain the confirmation page, payment proof and uploaded-photo record. NTA issues the e-admit card through its portal. After results, only candidates declared eligible by ICAR for counselling registration and choice filling are considered for programme, seat and agricultural-university allocation. Admission and any scholarship linked to this route require participation in ICAR counselling.

• Use an active personal email address and mobile number; the bulletin says these cannot later be changed.
• The candidate does not select an agricultural university in the initial application form; university and programme choices are handled through the subsequent counselling process.
• Verify the counselling brochure for the specific cycle because university-specific eligibility, seat numbers and other conditions can change.

Start by mapping the intended degree to its university-level Class 12 subject requirements, then register for the corresponding CUET subjects already studied in Class 12. This is more important than preparing from legacy AIEEA-UG materials, because ICAR’s current bulletin directs candidates to NTA’s CUET (UG) bulletin and syllabus for examination instructions and content.

Build preparation around the official NTA syllabus for the selected subjects, with systematic revision of the Class 12 curriculum, timed practice in the current CUET interface/pattern when NTA publishes it, and careful review of the final NTA and ICAR notices. Do not add subjects merely because they seem useful for a course: ICAR warns that attempting subjects different from those passed in Class 12 can invalidate counselling eligibility.

• Read the current NTA CUET (UG) information bulletin and syllabus before finalising subjects.
• Keep copies of Class 12 marksheets, category/PwBD documents where applicable, identity records and application confirmation materials ready for later verification.
• Before counselling, compare each target university’s programme-specific subject rule, age rule and other special conditions.

A successful CUET (ICAR-UG) merit rank and ICAR counselling allocation can lead to a four-year undergraduate programme in agriculture or allied sciences at participating institutions in the ICAR-AU system. The current route provides pathways aligned with this node’s child degrees—B.F.Sc., B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture, Community Science, Forestry and Horticulture, plus B.Tech in Agricultural Engineering, Biotechnology, Dairy Technology and Food Technology—subject to programme availability and the chosen university’s eligibility conditions.

This is an admission pathway, not a degree or an employment guarantee. Course outcomes, internships, fees, seat availability and placement opportunities vary substantially by university and programme. Candidates should evaluate the individual institution and its current accreditation/programme status separately before accepting a seat.
