Eligibility depends on the admission channel and university. Under the ICAR CUET (ICAR-UG)-2026 route, an Indian-national applicant must have completed a recognised 10+2/Senior Secondary qualification and studied at least three core subjects drawn from Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology, and Agriculture/Inter-Agriculture. The bulletin sets the examination minimum age at 16 years on August 31, 2026; it also makes clear that admitting universities’ statutes and programme conditions continue to apply.

The ICAR bulletin’s university-wise Community Science table shows that accepted Class 12 subject combinations and age conditions can vary by institution. Applicants should therefore treat the central test criteria as a baseline and check the current counselling brochure and the target university’s prospectus before applying.

• A diploma or vocational course taken after matriculation does not meet the ICAR bulletin’s qualifying-examination requirement for this route.
• ICAR’s minimum standards for Community Science identify PCB, PCM, or PCMB at Intermediate/10+2 level as the baseline eligibility framework; individual institutions may publish broader or additional combinations for a particular admission year.

The full B.Sc. (Hons.) Community Science degree is a four-year undergraduate programme. ICAR’s 2026–27 admission bulletin describes the associated bachelor programmes as four years in duration, and ANGRAU lists Community Science as a four-year professional course.

Under the ICAR Sixth Deans’ Committee framework, a completed four-year programme leads to the B.Sc. (Hons.) award. The framework also describes institutionally implemented multiple-entry/exit arrangements and a maximum seven-year period to complete the programme; learners should confirm how their specific university has implemented these provisions.

Community Science applies scientific, social, design, and communication perspectives to individual, family, and community well-being. A representative official faculty description identifies core study areas as foods and nutrition; human development and family studies; apparel design and textiles; resource management and consumer science; and extension education and communication management.

The precise course titles, credit mix, practical work, electives, internship requirements, and assessment rules are university-specific. At the national level, ICAR’s Sixth Deans’ Committee includes Community Science among the agricultural-science disciplines for which the curriculum and credit framework were restructured, while ICAR’s minimum standards identify corresponding departmental domains such as food science and nutrition, textiles/apparel, family-resource management, human development, and extension/communication.

For academic year 2026–27, the ICAR all-India admission pathway is CUET (ICAR-UG)-2026. ICAR states that the examination is used for admission to agriculture and allied-science bachelor programmes at agricultural universities, generally for 20% of university seats, with specified institutions having different seat coverage. Candidates qualifying for ICAR registration and counselling are considered for programme and university allocation.

Application for CUET (ICAR-UG)-2026 is online through the NTA CUET portal. ICAR states that there is no direct nomination for admission through ICAR without qualifying CUET (ICAR-UG)-2026. The January 2026 bulletin says that final 2026–27 seat numbers, subject eligibility, and special conditions will be published in the online counselling brochure, so applicants should not rely on the prior-year university table as final availability.

Universities may also publish their own admission notices. For example, ANGRAU displayed a 2026–27 B.Sc. (Hons.) Community Science application notice with an August 10, 2026 deadline; this is a university-specific date, not an all-India deadline, and should be rechecked on the university site.

Community Science among qualifying degrees for its MBA (Agribusiness) and its PG Diploma in Post-Harvest Technology, Food Safety, and Quality.

Career outcomes depend on an employer’s recruitment rules, location, further credentials, and experience. As examples of relevant sectors rather than guaranteed jobs, ANGRAU identifies roles including Child Development Project Officer/departmental supervisory and instructional work in women-and-child development and social welfare, and quality-control work in food and textile sectors. A graduate seeking titles such as nutritionist should separately verify any employer, state, hospital, or professional-registration requirements.
