For admission through the ICAR quota in the 2026–27 cycle, applicants needed a recognized 10+2/equivalent qualification and at least three Class 12 core subjects drawn from Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology and Agriculture/Inter-Agriculture. They also had to take CUET subjects corresponding to those passed at Class 12; taking different subjects could lead to rejection during counselling or admission.

ICAR’s published minimum standards for establishing a B.Sc. (Hons.) Forestry college describe the expected entry background as Intermediate/10+2 with PCM, PCMB or Agriculture. Actual eligibility is not identical across all institutions: the ICAR bulletin lists programme-specific combinations and sometimes university-specific age or other requirements. Applicants should therefore verify the target university’s current prospectus before applying.

In the ICAR CUET (ICAR-UG) 2026 bulletin, B.Sc. (Hons.) Forestry is among the bachelor’s programmes stated to have a four-year duration. The same bulletin identifies undergraduate agricultural-science degrees in this admission framework as professional degrees.

• Confirm the academic calendar, credit rules, internship/fieldwork requirements and exit provisions in the admitting university’s regulations.

The degree is designed around scientific and applied forest-resource management rather than only tree identification or plantation work. ICAR’s forestry standards organize provision around silviculture and agroforestry; forest biology and tree improvement; natural-resource management; forest-products utilization; wildlife sciences; and basic and social sciences. The precise paper titles, practicals, credits and electives remain university-specific.

A university curriculum can additionally include applied areas such as wood science and technology, forest hydrology and watershed management, forest economics and marketing, forest extension and community forestry, forest law and policy, geomatics, restoration ecology, plantation forestry, and non-timber forest products. These examples illustrate curriculum variation rather than a nationwide compulsory paper list.

• Expect a blend of biological sciences, resource management, field-oriented forestry and social/economic dimensions of forest use.
• Compare the semester-wise syllabus and practical/field facilities before choosing a college; ICAR’s accreditation listings are a useful starting point for checking institutions and programmes.

For the 2026–27 ICAR quota process, undergraduate admission is based on merit rank in CUET (ICAR-UG) 2026. B.Sc. (Hons.) Forestry is specifically included in that process, and the bulletin publishes participating universities, ICAR-quota seats, accepted Class 12 subject combinations and any special conditions by programme.

This is a route for ICAR quota counselling, not a guarantee that every Forestry college uses the same selection process. Candidates should check the target university’s own admission notice alongside the current CUET and ICAR counselling notices.

A common academic progression is M.Sc. Forestry. ICAR’s AIEEA (PG) is the national entrance route used for postgraduate agriculture and allied-sciences admissions in the ICAR-AU system; eligibility, participating seats, scholarships and other requirements must be checked in that year’s NTA/ICAR information bulletin. For the 2026–27 cycle, ICAR announced AIEEA (PG) registration from May 8 to June 7, 2026, so that application window is already past as of July 18, 2026.

For public-service careers, B.Sc. (Hons.) Forestry meets the named degree-field requirement for the UPSC Indian Forest Service Examination. The 2026 UPSC notice states that candidates must first take and qualify through the Civil Services Preliminary Examination for progression to the Indian Forest Service Main examination, and all age, nationality, medical and other conditions in the relevant annual notice still apply.
