There is no single standard pattern. Uttarakhand’s Assistant Conservator of Forest, Logging Officer and Forest Range Officer Combined Examination–2025 illustrates a multi-stage design: a preliminary objective paper, a written main examination with compulsory and optional papers, and an interview. Its preliminary paper was General Studies and General Aptitude; its mains scheme included General Hindi, General English, General Knowledge, two optional subjects, and an interview.

Other state notices may organize selection differently and may separately assess physical standards or fitness. Treat a state’s current notification, syllabus, and instructions as the authoritative pattern for that cycle.

• Confirm whether the preliminary stage is screening-only or counted in final merit, and whether any paper has a minimum qualifying mark.
