RRB Paramedical Staff Recruitment

RRB Paramedical Staff Recruitment is the centralized Railway Recruitment Board route for filling paramedical positions in Indian Railways. It is not a single permanent course examination: the posts, number of vacancies, zones, age bands, medical standards, qualifications, dates, and terms are set separately in each Centralised Employment Notice (CEN). • A candidate selects one RRB and gives preferences only for eligible notified posts and railway zones within that chosen RRB.
• The RRB’s role is to recommend suitable candidates; the concerned Zonal Railway issues appointment offers, subject to vacancy availability and final eligibility conditions.
• A CBT e-call letter or provisional acceptance of an application is not final confirmation of eligibility.

Eligibility is post-specific. Applicants must possess the stated educational, technical, and professional qualifications from a recognized institution by the notification’s closing date; candidates awaiting final results are not eligible in the cited cycle. They must also meet the nationality, age, disability-suitability, and Railway medical-standard requirements in the applicable CEN.

• Nursing Superintendent: registered nurse and midwife certificate after a three-year General Nursing and Midwifery course recognized by the Indian Nursing Council, or B.Sc. Nursing; CEN 03/2025 specified age 20–40.
• Dialysis Technician: B.Sc. plus a diploma in haemodialysis, or two years of satisfactory in-house haemodialysis training/experience; age 20–33 in CEN 03/2025.
• Radiographer X-Ray Technician: 10+2 with Physics and Chemistry plus a two-year diploma in Radiography, X-Ray Technician, or Radio-diagnosis Technology; age 19–33 in CEN 03/2025.
• ECG Technician: 10+2 or graduation in Science plus a certificate, diploma, or degree in ECG/cardiology technology; the certificate route must be at least one year; age 18–33 in CEN 03/2025.
• Laboratory Assistant Grade II: 10+2 Science plus DMLT or an eligible, full-time Medical Laboratory Technology certificate course of at least one year; age 18–33 in CEN 03/2025.
• The CEN 03/2025 age cut-off was January 1, 2026. It provided upper-age relaxations, including 5 years for SC/ST candidates and 3 years for OBC-NCL candidates, subject to the notification’s conditions and certificates.
• Medical fitness is compulsory. The post’s B1, C1, or C2 standard may include visual-acuity and other requirements; failure to meet the prescribed standard prevents empanelment for that post.

Multiple applications to the same or different RRBs could lead to rejection and debarment.

Use timed objective-question practice because wrong answers attracted one-third negative marking in the cited cycle.

• For nursing posts, revise anatomy, physiology, nutrition, microbiology, pharmacology, pathology, medical-surgical nursing, community health nursing, child health nursing, mental health nursing, midwifery, research/statistics, and nursing management.
• For radiography, emphasize radiology and radiation physics, X-ray equipment and image processing, positioning, modern imaging, contrast/special procedures, patient care, quality control, and radiation safety.
• For laboratory posts, cover medical laboratory technology fundamentals, microbiology, clinical biochemistry, pathology and histopathology, haematology, and blood-bank topics.
• For the common portions, practice arithmetic topics such as percentage, ratio, time and work, algebra and mensuration; reasoning topics such as series, coding-decoding, syllogisms and data interpretation; and general science up to the CBSE Class 10 level.
• Use the official RRB mock/practice test when made available, and prepare to take the test in the language option selected in the application; CEN 03/2025 offered English, Hindi, and 13 listed regional Indian languages.

Successful candidates can be empanelled for the paramedical post, Railway zone, and production unit allotted according to CBT merit, stated preferences, medical fitness, and vacancies at panel preparation. The RRB does not guarantee a particular post or location merely because it was preferred; appointment follows final verification and an offer from the relevant Zonal Railway.

• For CEN 03/2025, initial basic pay was ₹44,900 for Nursing Superintendent (Level 7); ₹35,400 for Dialysis Technician and Health & Malaria Inspector Grade II (Level 6); ₹29,200 for Pharmacist and Radiographer X-Ray Technician (Level 5); ₹25,500 for ECG Technician (Level 4); and ₹21,700 for Laboratory Assistant Grade II (Level 3). These are dated notification figures, not a promise for future CENs or an estimate of take-home pay.
• Shortlisting for document verification and empanelment is based on CBT merit, subject to minimum qualifying marks and the notification’s rules.
• Original qualification, identity, category, and other supporting documents are checked at document verification. A candidate who cannot produce required originals on the date of verification can forfeit candidature.
• Passing the Railway medical test is essential. The notification states that a candidate who fails the prescribed medical standard will not be empanelled for that post and will not receive an alternate Railway appointment on that basis.
