DRDO CEPTAM

DRDO CEPTAM is not a single permanent examination syllabus for every DRDO job; it is the recruitment framework used by the Centre for Personnel Talent Management for the posts specified in each advertisement. CEPTAM-11, for example, recruited Senior Technical Assistant-B and Technician-A into the Defence Research & Development Organisation Technical Cadre (DRTC), for work across DRDO laboratories, establishments and units.

The appropriate target post depends on the candidate’s qualification. In the CEPTAM-11 cycle, STA-B was a Group B, non-gazetted, non-ministerial technical post, while Technician-A was a Group C, non-gazetted, non-ministerial technical post. Older or future CEPTAM advertisements may cover different DRDO roles, so eligibility and selection should always be read from the advertisement for the particular post code.

• Use the CEPTAM/DRDO advertisement—not coaching-site summaries—to identify the posts, disciplines or trades, number of vacancies, locations and rules for the cycle in which you apply.
• For an ITI or NAC holder, Technician-A is the directly relevant CEPTAM-11 pathway; an STA-B application instead requires the prescribed relevant diploma or B.Sc. qualification for its post code.

In CEPTAM-11, applicants had to be Indian nationals and be 18–28 years old on the cycle’s crucial eligibility date, January 1, 2026. The notice provided category-specific age relaxations under extant Government of India rules. These dates and limits are advertisement-specific and should not be treated as a guarantee for a future CEPTAM cycle.

For STA-B, CEPTAM-11 required the qualification stated against the chosen discipline—typically a relevant AICTE-recognised diploma in engineering/technology or a B.Sc. from a recognised university or institute. For Technician-A, the normal requirement was Class 10/equivalent plus the specified recognised ITI trade certificate. The detailed advertisement also set restrictions concerning certain higher qualifications, so candidates should not assume that a higher degree automatically qualifies them.

• Match the exact post code and trade/discipline before applying; similar-sounding credentials may not be accepted.
• For Technician-A, an NAC/NTC or a recognised minimum one-year certificate was an alternative only in the circumstance specified by the CEPTAM-11 notice: where ITIs do not award a certificate in the required trade.
• Keep qualification, date-of-birth and category/relaxation documents ready. CEPTAM-11 required uploaded documents and later verification of originals.

For CEPTAM-11, both Tier-I and Tier-II were bilingual (Hindi and English) computer-based tests using objective multiple-choice questions. Tier-I was a 120-minute, 150-question screening test: General Science (40), General English (30), Quantitative Aptitude/General Mathematics (40), and General Intelligence and Reasoning (40).

For STA-B, Tier-II included a personality test and a 120-question, 120-minute post-code-specific subject test; merit for Tier-II was based on the subject-specific Part II rather than the personality test. For Technician-A, Tier-II included a personality test and a 120-question, 90-minute trade-specific Part II. Technician-A candidates then faced a qualifying practical trade test at ITI level; the CEPTAM-11 notice stated minimum trade-test qualifying marks of 50% for UR/OBC/EWS and 45% for SC/ST/PwBD candidates.

The CEPTAM-11 advertisement described Tier-I as screening and Tier-II Part II as the basis for provisional selection or, for Technician-A, for shortlisting toward the trade test. It also stated that shortlisting ratios, normalization and selection mode could vary with organisational requirements and government policy.

• Tier-I preparation is common across post codes; Tier-II preparation must be tailored to the applied STA-B discipline or Technician-A trade.
• For Technician-A, practical trade competence matters in addition to CBT performance because the trade test is mandatory and qualifying in nature, subject to stated exemptions.
• Official CEPTAM-11 notices scheduled Tier-I on March 23, 2026 and directed applicants to DRDO for city information and admit-card updates.

CEPTAM-11 used an online-only application through the DRDO website’s Offerings/Vacancies area and its linked application portal. Applicants were told to review the form before final submission, pay online, and upload the required documents. The official FAQ advised using a desktop or laptop because some application-module features might not work properly on mobile devices.

Fee rules are cycle- and category-specific. In CEPTAM-11, the total paid at application was ₹750 for STA-B General/OBC/EWS/MSP applicants and ₹600 for Technician-A General/OBC/EWS/MSP applicants; the amount included a ₹500 refundable component for candidates who appeared in Tier-I. Women, SC, ST, PwBD and eligible ex-servicemen had a nil non-refundable application fee but still paid the refundable ₹500 component. Bank charges could apply. These are historical CEPTAM-11 amounts, not a promise of future fees.

The CEPTAM-11 application window ran from December 11, 2025 to January 1, 2026, with fee payment through January 3, 2026. Those dates are past. Future dates, correction windows, documentation rules and exam-city choices must be taken from the live official advertisement.

• Read the complete advertisement, FAQs and portal instructions before beginning the form.
• Use qualification and category documents whose details support every claim made in the application; CEPTAM may reject unsupported claims during document scrutiny or verification.
• Monitor the official DRDO vacancy page for admit cards, answer keys, result notices and any corrigenda.

Start with the official pattern: prepare the four Tier-I areas—General Science, English, quantitative aptitude/general mathematics, and intelligence/reasoning—under the 150-question, 120-minute format. Because CEPTAM-11 specified time-bound sections that lock when their allocated time expires, practice section-wise pacing rather than only untimed question solving.

Make Tier-II preparation post-code-specific. DRDO publishes detailed Tier-II syllabus material for STA-B disciplines and Technician-A trades. The published Technician-A topics cover trade knowledge and, depending on the trade, occupational safety, tools, workshop calculations, engineering drawing, computer or equipment fundamentals and other relevant trade content. Technician-A candidates should also practise the applied ITI-level skills needed for the qualifying trade test.

Use the official advertisement, syllabus and answer-key notices as the primary preparation source. The CEPTAM-11 advertisement says that answer keys for both CBT tiers are published on DRDO’s website and allows online representations within the stated period after publication.

• Build a Tier-I timed practice routine, then reserve substantial time for the exact Tier-II discipline/trade in your post code.
• For Technician-A, revise ITI practical procedures, safety and measurement alongside theory; a CBT-only strategy is incomplete.
• Check the official syllabus file for the exact trade or subject rather than relying on a generic ‘DRDO CEPTAM syllabus’.

Candidates provisionally selected through CEPTAM-11 are nominated to the relevant DRDO laboratory, establishment or unit based on merit, vacancy availability and submitted posting preferences, while DRDO retains the right to post candidates anywhere in India. Appointment follows document verification and satisfaction of eligibility, antecedent and character requirements.

As dated CEPTAM-11 pay context, STA-B carried Pay Matrix Level 6 (₹35,400–₹1,12,400) and Technician-A carried Pay Matrix Level 2 (₹19,900–₹63,200), under the 7th CPC matrix. The advertisement also referred to allowances and benefits under prevailing Government of India rules. Actual take-home pay, allowances and future pay rules vary by posting, policy and time.

The CEPTAM-11 service conditions stated a two-year initial probation, all-India service liability, and a minimum five-year period at the first posting station without transfer on request, subject to DRDO’s organisational needs and applicable rules.

• A CEPTAM result is not by itself an appointment letter: document verification and the concerned DRDO unit’s appointment process follow nomination.
• Be prepared for postings across India, including field or remote locations, rather than treating a preferred station as guaranteed.
• Treat salary figures and conditions as CEPTAM-11 context; verify the current advertisement and applicable government rules before making career or financial decisions.
