NCHM JEE

NCHM JEE is the national entrance examination for admission to the NCHMCT-affiliated B.Sc. in Hospitality & Hotel Administration programme. NCHMCT describes this as a three-year, six-semester programme recognised by Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), combining practical training in food production, food and beverage service, front office/rooms operations and housekeeping with management subjects.

The examination should not be treated as a universal entrance test for every hospitality, tourism, BBA or diploma programme. The official 2026 NTA bulletin specifically identifies the B.Sc. HHA at affiliated Institutes of Hotel Management as the programme for which NCHM JEE scores are accepted. Applicants considering BTTM, BBA, BBA Hotel Management, or diploma courses should verify the individual institution’s stated admission route rather than assume that NCHM JEE is required.

• NTA conducts the test; NCHMCT is the hospitality-education body that uses it for B.Sc. HHA admissions.

The 2026 bulletin required candidates to have passed 10+2 Senior Secondary or an equivalent examination from a recognised board, with English studied as a core, elective or functional subject. Candidates appearing in the qualifying examination could take NCHM JEE provisionally, but had to provide proof of passing by counselling/admission or, at the latest, September 30, 2026.

There was no age restriction for NCHM JEE 2026. Candidates who qualify also have to provide a physical-fitness certificate for practical classes at admission, in the prescribed format. Original qualification, category and PwD documents are verified during admission.

• Relevant streams are not restricted to Commerce: the published requirement is 10+2/equivalent with English, rather than a specified school stream.
• Equivalent qualifications listed in the 2026 bulletin include recognised Central/State-board senior secondary examinations, certain pre-university qualifications, NIOS/state open-school senior secondary with at least five subjects including English, and other recognised equivalents.

In 2026, NCHM JEE was delivered as a computer-based test (CBT) in English and Hindi. It ran for 120 minutes and used objective multiple-choice questions. Candidates chose the question-paper medium in the online form; the bulletin says that selection could not later be changed, and that the English version governs where a translation ambiguity arises.

The 120-question paper gave the greatest weight to English Language (45 questions), followed by Aptitude for Service Sector (30). Numerical Ability and Analytical Aptitude, Reasoning and Logical Deduction, and General Knowledge and Current Affairs each carried 15 questions. Each correct response earned four marks, each incorrect response incurred a one-mark deduction, and unanswered questions received zero marks.

The 2026 application was online only. The registration period was December 26, 2025 through January 25, 2026, with fee payment due by 11:50 PM on January 25, 2026. These dates are historical, not a forecast for a future cycle; applicants should use NTA’s NCHM JEE portal and the next year’s information bulletin for any newly announced schedule.

For the 2026 process, applicants registered using their own email address and mobile number, completed the application, uploaded a photograph and signature (and a PwD certificate where applicable), paid through the integrated payment gateway, and retained the confirmation page. The stated 2026 examination fee was ₹1,000 for General/OBC-NCL, ₹700 for Gen-EWS, and ₹450 for SC/ST/PwD/Third Gender, plus applicable processing charges and GST. Fees, documents, correction windows and deadlines can change by cycle.

After receiving an AIR, eligible candidates participate in centralised web-based counselling, register on the counselling portal and submit choices. Seat and institute allocation is made on merit-cum-choice; meeting the examination eligibility alone does not replace document verification at admission.

Build preparation around the published distribution rather than treating all sections equally. English Language accounts for 45 of 120 questions and Aptitude for Service Sector accounts for 30, so together they make up 75 questions; retain regular practice in numerical ability, reasoning, and current affairs as well. This weighting-based study allocation is an inference from NTA’s published scheme, not an official recommendation.

Use timed CBT-style practice: the 2026 format allowed 120 minutes for 120 MCQs and applied negative marking. Review errors and practice selective answering, because an incorrect response loses one mark while an unattempted question gains or loses nothing. Candidates should also read the current-cycle information bulletin before applying, since the pattern and operational instructions may be revised.

• Practise English comprehension, grammar and vocabulary alongside service-orientation judgement/aptitude questions.
• Practise core arithmetic and analytical questions, logical reasoning, and a routine for current-affairs revision.
• Simulate the official 2026 pace: approximately one minute per question, while preserving time for review.

A successful NCHM JEE rank can lead to admission to the B.Sc. HHA at an NCHMCT-affiliated Institute of Hotel Management through counselling. The programme is three years/six semesters, with an optional fourth year under the NEP 2020 framework for an honours degree, according to NCHMCT’s published course information.

NCHMCT identifies career pathways for B.Sc. HHA graduates in hotel and allied hospitality management training, guest/customer relations, food and catering services, sales and marketing, railway hospitality and catering, state tourism organisations, retail, flight kitchens/on-board services, cruise and shipping lines, amusement parks, teaching roles and self-employment. These are examples of potential pathways rather than guaranteed placements, job titles or earnings.
