LIC AAO is LIC’s officer-level recruitment route for Assistant Administrative Officers. It is not a permanent admission test or a reliably annual examination: LIC publishes recruitment-specific notices through its Careers portal, which define the available streams, vacancies, eligibility, schedule, assessment structure, and service conditions for that cycle. The official 2025 page covered AAO Generalists and several Specialist categories, alongside Assistant Engineer recruitment.

For applicants, the practical implication is to identify the exact post named in the live notice. “AAO Generalist” and AAO specialist posts can have materially different educational and assessment requirements; specialist roles in the 2025 cycle included Chartered Accountant, Company Secretary, Actuarial, Legal, Insurance Specialist, and engineering-related recruitment streams.

• Use LIC’s Careers page as the controlling source for whether an application window is open and for all cycle-specific instructions.
• Do not treat third-party “expected” dates, cut-offs, vacancies, or syllabi as official until they appear in LIC’s notice or candidate handout.

For the 2025 AAO Generalist recruitment, the baseline requirement was a bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognised Indian university or institution. The age band was 21 to 30 years as of August 1, 2025. LIC also listed upper-age relaxations, including 5 years for SC/ST, 3 years for OBC, and specified relaxations for PwBD, eligible ex-servicemen/commissioned officers, and confirmed LIC employees. The 2025 AAO Generalist process had three competitive stages—online preliminary examination, online main examination, and interview—followed by pre-recruitment medical examination for candidates reaching final merit. Preliminary marks did not count towards final merit. LIC used main-examination marks to shortlist candidates for interview, and used main-examination plus interview marks for final merit.

In the 2025 Generalist preliminary exam, the online objective test was one hour with separate 20-minute sections: Reasoning Ability (35 questions/35 marks), Quantitative Aptitude (35/35), and English Language (30 questions/30 marks). The notice described English as qualifying, with its marks not counted for ranking; it also stated that there was no negative marking in the Generalist preliminary examination.

In the 2025 Generalist cycle, applications were online only through LIC’s website and Careers recruitment link. Candidates created a new registration using their name, contact details, and email address, received a provisional registration number and password, completed the application, uploaded required files, paid the online charge, and were advised to retain the system-generated application printout. A future cycle may use a different portal, dates, document specifications, or payment amount.

The 2025 notice required candidates to have a valid personal email address and mobile number active through the recruitment process, and to upload a photograph, signature, left-thumb impression, and handwritten declaration in the specified format. For examination entry, the notice required the call letter, original valid photo identity proof, and a photocopy of that identification. LIC directed candidates to download call letters through its Careers site, generally from seven days before the online examination.

The notice said selected candidates could be posted or transferred anywhere in India according to LIC requirements, noted that many vacancies were in mofussil branches, and stated that candidates would be posted for at least five years in mofussil branches outside their home zones after selection and successful training.
