Lateral Entry Entrance Test (LEET)

This node should be understood principally as Haryana’s B.E./B.Tech. lateral-entry pathway, because the Haryana State Technical Education Society (HSTES) explicitly uses the term “LEET” in its 2026 prospectus. Its purpose is to allow eligible diploma holders and certain B.Sc./vocational candidates to join B.E./B.Tech. directly in the second year (third semester), rather than begin again in first year.

“LEET” is not a uniform national exam brand. States and institutions use their own lateral-entry admission arrangements—for example, West Bengal uses JELET—so applicants outside Haryana should identify the relevant state authority, examination, admission brochure, and counselling rules rather than rely on Haryana LEET information.

For Haryana’s 2026–27 B.Tech lateral-entry admission, HSTES lists an engineering/technology diploma of at least three years—or a two-year lateral-entry diploma—with at least 45% marks; the threshold is 40% for candidates in listed reserved categories. The diploma can be in any engineering and technology branch under the stated HSTES rule.

HSTES also lists a recognized B.Sc. degree with at least 45% marks (40% for listed reserved categories), provided the candidate passed 10+2 with Mathematics. It further lists B.Voc/three-year D.Voc in the same or allied sector and NCVT-approved diplomas. Universities may provide bridge courses such as Mathematics, Physics, and Engineering Drawing for entrants from varied backgrounds.

An applicant should verify that the exact awarding body, qualification, marks, category documentation, domicile status, and branch/institute choices meet the current prospectus. Holding a related credential alone does not guarantee eligibility or a seat.

• For the 2026–27 Haryana cycle, HSTES says qualifying-examination eligibility must be established during online application/document verification.

The 2026 HSTES materials contain an important inconsistency. The current HSTES lateral-entry instructions, updated in July 2026, say admissions will be made using inter-se merit of qualifying-examination percentage through online centralized counselling. That is the operational basis applicants should treat as current unless HSTES issues a later change.

However, the 2026 prospectus also contains a full Online Common Entrance Test (OCET)/LEET scheme: 90 objective questions for 90 marks in 90 minutes, in English, with no negative marking. Its listed coverage includes basic sciences, electronics, mechanical, civil and other engineering-stream topics. This material may be relevant if HSTES activates or restores the test process, but it should not be treated as confirmation that a test remains required for the 2026–27 intake.

Because the selection basis, dates, and testing arrangements can be amended, check the HSTES B.Tech lateral-entry instructions and the Haryana technical admissions portal before registering, booking travel, or paying for preparation.

For the 2026–27 Haryana cycle, applicants apply online through the Haryana technical-admissions portal. HSTES instructs candidates to choose B.E./B.Tech. (Lateral Entry), enter information exactly as in the qualifying examination, upload a photograph and signature, and upload the Class 10 detailed marks certificate, qualifying-examination marks certificate, and applicable category documents for verification.

After fee payment and verification by a designated centre, HSTES says it prepares and displays the inter-se merit. Candidates then log in to fill institute and branch choices for centralized online counselling. After an allotment, the allotted institute verifies credentials and issues a provisional admission slip; failure to report by the notified schedule or submission of incorrect documents can result in cancellation of the seat.

Fees and dates are admission-cycle-specific. As a dated example only, HSTES’s 2026–27 instruction page lists a non-refundable registration-cum-application fee of ₹1,000 for the General Category and ₹700 for listed reserved categories, payable online. Applicants should confirm the fee and deadline shown in the live portal and current prospectus before payment.

• Upload legible, correct documents and ensure names, date of birth, marks, and category details match official records.
• Fill and, where available, lock choices carefully; allotment depends on merit, choices, seat availability, and applicable rules.
• Report to the allotted institute as instructed and retain the provisional admission slip.

For the currently stated 2026–27 merit-based Haryana process, the highest-priority preparation is administrative: obtain final, accurate marks documents; calculate and verify qualifying-examination marks; scan required certificates; confirm category/domicile evidence where applicable; and prepare a realistic ranked list of branches and institutes before choice filling.

If HSTES later confirms that OCET/LEET will be conducted, use only the official syllabus and mock-test information. The 2026 prospectus’s test scheme emphasizes Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, communication skills, general awareness, and foundational topics across electronics, mechanical, civil, and other engineering streams; it also says the syllabus aligns with the AICTE/HSBTE diploma curriculum and advises broad study of important topics.

• Monitor HSTES and the Haryana admissions portal for superseding notices.
• Review the official branch- and institute-wise intake when it is published; availability is not fixed until counselling.
• If an entrance test is officially activated, practise timed computer-based MCQs and use the official mock test rather than relying solely on third-party material.

A successful applicant receives admission to the second year (third semester) of an allotted B.E./B.Tech. programme and follows the three-year lateral-entry degree route. The eventual branch depends on the preferences submitted, merit position, and seats available during counselling; HSTES’s prospectus notes that eligible diploma holders may seek branches beyond their original diploma discipline, subject to rank, choice, and availability.

A seat is not final merely because it appears in allotment results. HSTES requires institute-level verification of uploaded credentials and reporting under the notified schedule; incorrect documentation or non-reporting can lead to forfeiture or cancellation. Intake and vacancies are variable by institute and branch, so applicants should use the live counselling information rather than assume a particular engineering branch will be available.
