Part A had 80 discipline-specific MCQs, one mark each, with +1/−1/3 marking; Part B had up to 15 aptitude/ability MCQs totaling 20 marks, with no negative marking. ISRO stated that candidates would be shortlisted for interview from written-test performance, generally in a 1:5 ratio, and that final-panel generation would give 50% weight to the written test and 50% to the interview.
The interview rubric in that 2025 notice allocated 100 marks across technical knowledge, technical awareness related to the specialization, presentation/communication, comprehension and academic achievements. In contrast, the separate ICRB:01(EMC):2025 GATE-based recruitment had no written test and shortlisted candidates for interview using GATE scores in a 1:7 ratio. Therefore, a candidate should not prepare from an older pattern without first confirming the new advertisement’s selection route.

In the ICRB:02(EMC):2025 written-test notice, all applicants initially paid ₹750 as processing fee per application; for candidates who appeared in the written test, the notice provided a full ₹750 refund to women, SC/ST, PwBD and ex-servicemen, and a ₹500 refund to other candidates after the ₹250 application fee. Payment was online through the designated BharatKosh flow. Future notices may use different charges, refund terms, or no written-test route, so candidates must use the current notice rather than this 2025 example.
